How to export your GoDaddy website
We found no export for the Websites + Marketing builder. Here is what its documents say and what you can do.
The short answer
This page is about GoDaddy's website builder, Websites + Marketing, not its hosting. We found no export in GoDaddy's help pages. Its Website Services Agreement covers this builder and says "you may not migrate or otherwise transfer any such website to another hosting provider." It also treats the site, other than your own content, as GoDaddy's.
Your own text and images are your content. This is not legal advice, so read the agreement yourself or ask a lawyer before you copy anything else.
What you can take
- 1
Store products
In your dashboard, open Commerce, then Products. Select them, then Export.
- 2
Your own words and photos
Copy your text and save your own images. We found no bulk tool for this.
- 3
Form messages
Form submissions go to the email saved in the form settings, so your mailbox is your record.
What does not come with you
The built-in backup covers sections, text and settings only, not blogs, marketing emails, products, appointments or images, and GoDaddy describes no download for it. See GoDaddy on backups.
Before you cancel anything
A domain moves to another registrar from your Domain Portfolio, typically in 5 to 7 days, and a 60 day lock may apply. See the GoDaddy steps. A whole domain can be forwarded with a permanent 301 under DNS, then Forwarding. See how. That works on the domain, not on single pages.
Our advice, on any platform: keep the old site live until the new one is tested, and put the page redirects on the new host. A redirect set on the old platform only runs while your domain still points there.
Exporting from GoDaddy
Does this apply to GoDaddy hosting too?
No. The agreement language above is about sites built with its website services. Regular hosting is a different product with its own migration options.
Can you rebuild it for me?
We never copy a template or a design. We work from your own words and photos, into our own blocks. Talk to us and a person will look at your case.
Still have questions? Call the office or send us your site and a person will take a look.
